FFCS-100 — The shortest route to a leak-free aircraft.

Process FFCS-100 is a proprietary process for installation of EFC-100 sealants that is FAA approved and produces superior results. The installation can be carried out during a major check or as a stand-alone project.

EFC-100 sealants were developed by Engineered Fabrics Corporation (EFC) (formerly B.F. Goodrich) using more than 40 years fuel tank manufacturing knowledge and experience. EFC is the only manufacturer of urethane coated fuel bladders for aircraft. EFC-100 sealants are a superior alternative to traditional polysulfide sealants with the same basic composition as fuel tank bladder materials. Typically a fuel cell bladder will last 20-25 years.

Benefits of EFC-100

  • Flexible after cure
  • Superior adhesion
  • Translucent
  • Non-conductive
  • Lighter than polysulfides
  • Eddy current without removal
  • Chromate free
  • FAA PMA approved

A Four-step Process

Process FFCS-100 is a four-step sealing process utilizing two viscosities of EFC-100 sealant, grout and brush coat. Steps in the process include:

1. Preparation

  • Old sealant removed
  • Metal cleaned and prepped for reseal
  • Bare metal is re-primed

2. First Coat Application

  • A single brush coat application is made to all sealing surfaces to ensure that sealant penetrates fully into all seams and tank penetrations.

3. Grouting

  • Grout sealant is applied to all fasteners and seams to give maximum sealant coverage and effectiveness.

4. Final Sealing

  • Brush coat sealant is applied in three coats to create an impermeable fuel barrier around all joints.

Benefit of FFCS-100 Process

  • Guaranteed leak-free aircraft
  • Increased aircraft reliability rates
  • Short ROI through savings from lost flight revenue and reduced maintenance costs
  • Performed during major checks or as a separate maintenance project

FFCS provides the longest warranties in the business.

  • Programs available for check-to-check coverage
  • Currently over 30 completely stripped and resealed aircraft in service
  • None of the above has leaked in service since reseal
